Looking to visit the Land Down Under soon? As with many other travellers, Sydney may top your list of the cities to visit, but don’t forget about the jewel that is Melbourne, often known to Aussies as “The Second City.” While it is literally called “second” to Sydney, however, Melbourne’s sights and sounds are surely top-notch—and it has international recognition to prove it. As news site ABC.net.au reported last August, Melbourne was named the most liveable city in the world for the fourth year in a row, receiving a perfect score of 100 in many of the areas considered in the survey, including education, environment, and culture. Sydney also received a host of perfect scores, but was found lacking in a few critical areas including culture and environment.
